With most of the country being on lockdown, many of us have nothing but time these days. While folks debate online about whether we should be using this time to come up with a new hustle or to take much needed mental health breaks, one thing we should definitely do is keep our bodies active. Maybe your activity is taking a walk outside or perhaps it’s a full-body workout. If you’re quarantined with Bae, you can even count your physical activity as _____________ [insert freaky activity that you would never tell your mama about here]. Either way, we’ve found inspiration in Chanel and Duke. This beautiful couple knows how to motivate each other to be their own body goals and to keep moving when the moving gets tough. Check out their IG profiles (here and here) for solo and couples workouts at home.

I LOOK LIKE BAE

Every week, we’ll be highlighting singles with the aim of sparking a love connection. Could the person below be the one for you? Shoot them a DM. Or, do you know someone who may be good for this week’s highlight? Spread love!

Blake // 35 // Brooklyn, NY // Multimedia Artist

What are you looking for in a partner?: Someone who is creative, optimistic, film geek, culture nerd, problem solver, adventurous and willing to lean into the harder moments in life.

Life goals: To be paid for my creativity, see the world and dig for more spiritual understanding.

Why are you single?: I choose to be, and I honestly don't make enough time for dating at this point in my life. New York City is tough enough figuring out yourself, but the dating scene out here is really all over the place.

To Black people, being ashy is not cute, so staying moisturized is a must. Let us introduce you to Hanahana Beauty, a Black-owned beauty brand that wants to make sure you keep a glow 24/7. Hanahana uses all-natural ingredients from Ghana to create exfoliating bars, body scrubs, and shea butters. The brand also takes care of the community that it sources from by paying double the fair trade rate and providing regular healthcare checks. They literally want to get you right while also taking care of the Motherland. Sounds like a brand that deserves our hard-earned dollars.

“Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris took his talents to Netflix a couple years ago due to ABC not allowing him to cover certain topics like Colin Kaepernick’s protest. Barris’ first venture with the streaming giant is the ultimate petty move as it’s still loosely based on his life (a la “Black-ish”), but he made sure to differentiate it only slightly by naming it “#BlackAF.” As the name suggests, this new show looks more raw than what we’ve seen from him on broadcast TV. Will you be watching? It premieres on April 17.
